Northumbria University

Masters of Arts (M.A.), Conservation of Fine Arts, Paper Conservation | 2013 - 2015

The programme cultivates conservation professionalisms by developing the following: conservation theory and ethics, preventative practice, conservation practice and use of physics and chemistry related to conservation. Documentation and technical analysis of objects is completed, supported by visible light photography, ultra violet fluorescence, infrared reflectography, false color infrared imaging and microphotographs.

The student is responsible for the examination, documentation and treatment of three works of art on paper; analysis of a case study; completion of workshops exploring the issues of interventive treatments of paper objects; the maintenance of a professional portfolio and writing a masters thesis. Critical thinking skills are mastered in preparation for selecting the best treatment plan of paper objects balancing the risks and benefits of treatment options. The student is prepared for the demands and working environment of the conservation laboratory upon graduation.

University of Delaware

Bachelor's Degree, Art Conservation | 2005 - 2009

Studies provided a strong foundation on conservation theory and preventative care of museum collections. A thorough understanding of inorganic and organic chemistry was developed and the links between Science and Art Conservation were made. Art History and Fine Arts were also studied to begin cultivating the necessary skills for good conservation practice.

Specific classes taken include: Tools and Techniques: Drawing in the West, Printmaking in the West, Painting in the West; Colour Mixing and Matching; and Fine Art Studio courses: drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics.
